Before you are able to get Behind the Wheel with hands-on training, California requires that prospective drivers take 30 hours of mandatory DMV driver’s education courses. Our online Drivers Education Course will teach you what you need to know to begin your driving lessons safely and confidently. Under 18 years Old? Here's How It Works

1. Complete Online Drivers Education Course

Our online drivers education course is 30 hours long and completely online. After completing the course, we will mail you your certificate of completion.

2. Take written Permit Test at DMV

You will then need to bring that certificate to the DMV to take the written permit test.

3. Take first 2 hour Lesson to Validate Permit

Your permit is not valid until you have had your first 2-hour behind the wheel instruction. After your first lessons, your instructor will sign your permit which will validate it.

4. Complete 6 hours of behind the wheel training

+ 50 hours with a parent

If you are under 18, you need to wait 6 months and a day from when you received your permit before you can take the behind the wheel test. During that time you need to complete 6 hours of behind the wheel training with an instructor as well as 50 hours at home with a parent or guardian over 25 years old.
